What is Hinge Signals?
Signals is a profile badge designed to highlight daters whose recent activity shows what Hinge calls “thoughtful participation and follow-through.”
That can include how someone explores profiles, responds to interest and continues conversations. When a profile meets the baseline requirements and enough participation criteria, a small Signals badge may appear next to the person’s name.
Hinge says the badge adds context—it does not guarantee responsiveness, compatibility, character or a relationship outcome.
How the badge works
Eligibility has two layers: baseline account requirements and recent patterns of thoughtful participation. Hinge’s current help page says a dater must meet every baseline requirement and a combination of three out of five additional criteria.
Your profile must qualify
- Complete profile
- Account in good standing
- At least one week on Hinge
- Current Selfie Verification
Your behavior must qualify
- Explore before liking
- Send thoughtful comments
- Review incoming likes
- Follow up with matches
- Confirm dates when relevant
Criteria can change as the feature develops. Always check Hinge’s current in-app Signals hub and official help page for the latest account-specific information.
Does Signals mean someone is active?
An active badge suggests the profile recently met eligibility rules. It does not tell you whether that person is online now, currently swiping, talking to a specific person or still available to date.
Recent eligible behavior
Thoughtful in-app participation
Baseline account requirements are met
Someone is online right now
Someone will reply or meet
Someone’s relationship status or intentions
Could your profile qualify?
Use this independent checklist to spot likely missing requirements. It never connects to Hinge and does not ask for your account details.
A baseline item may be missing
You checked 0 of 4 baseline requirements. Every baseline item generally needs to be met before a badge can appear.
Common questions
01What does Signals mean on Hinge?+
Hinge has identified recent patterns of thoughtful participation and follow-through on that profile. It is a behavior-based badge—not a compatibility score or character reference.
02Does a Signals badge mean someone is active right now?+
No. Signals is not a real-time online indicator. Hinge says eligibility is refreshed daily and reflects activity patterns over a recent period.
03Can you buy the Signals badge?+
No. A Hinge+ or HingeX subscription may unlock Signals filters, but subscribing does not make a profile eligible for the badge.
04Why did my Signals badge disappear?+
A baseline requirement may no longer be met—for example, Selfie Verification may have lapsed—or recent participation may no longer meet the feature’s criteria.
